Machinist, Bluefors Oy

Bluefors Oy is a Finnish high-tech company based in Helsinki, working in the field of quantum technology. The company designs and manufactures cryogenic measurement systems used in research and technology development around the world.

As a Machinist at Bluefors, you will manufacture a variety of precision components from materials such as copper, aluminum, brass, stainless steel, and POM plastic. The work is varied and includes producing small batches as well as implementing different machining solutions.

We value a careful and quality-oriented approach, an interest in machining, and a willingness to develop your skills in the role. Previous experience in CNC machining is important, but you do not need to have all the required skills from day one.

Your Responsibilities

As a Machinist, you will work as part of the Bluefors production team, manufacturing components for quantum technology systems. Your responsibilities will include operating and setting up CNC milling machines and manufacturing a variety of components in small batches. You will machine materials such as copper, stainless steel, brass, aluminum, and POM plastic. You will read and interpret technical drawings and machining programs and work accordingly. In addition, you will measure the components you manufacture, inspect their quality, and ensure that they meet the required specifications. You will also contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe working environment and ensuring smooth production.

Requirements

• Previous experience in CNC machining and basic knowledge of machine operation and setup
• Ability to read and work according to technical drawings
• A careful and precise approach to work, with an interest in producing high-quality results
• Willingness to learn new skills and develop as a machinist
• Good teamwork skills and a proactive attitude

We Also Consider the Following an Advantage

• Experience with 5-axis machining and DMG Mori milling machines
• Familiarity with Heidenhain controls
• Experience with Mastercam or other CAM software
• Experience machining copper, brass, or other non-ferrous metals, as well as precision components
• Previous experience in small-batch production or in the technical manufacturing industry

The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, working in a two-shift system. The shift cycle consists of three weeks: two weeks on the day shift (Monday to Friday) and one week on the evening shift (Monday to Thursday, with Fridays off). The evening shift runs from 2:00 PM to midnight.

The selected candidate will initially be employed by Barona Teollisuus Oy on a 6-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of continuing in a longer-term position.
