Are you a chef or kitchen professional looking for a new job opportunity, seasonal work or the next step in your career?

Aaltovoima Pohjoinen is organising the Aaltovoima Lapland Chef Academy – a free, two-day intensive training programme where you can develop your professional skills under the guidance of top-level professionals and build a concrete pathway towards seasonal work in Lapland.

This is not an ordinary course. The Academy combines hands-on training, professional development and a direct pathway to employment through Aaltovoima in leading hotels and restaurants across Lapland.

Who is the Academy for?

We are looking for:

• Trained chefs and kitchen professionals looking for a new job or seasonal work

• Early-career chefs with basic professional skills and a strong motivation to develop quickly

• International professionals with sufficient language skills and the right to work in Finland

• Chefs interested in Laplands hotels, experiential restaurants and international clientel

What does the Academy offer?

Top-level trainers

The training is led by experienced professionals Aki Kantelinen and Johan Kurkela, who will share their practical expertise and experience from professional kitchens.

Two intensive days

The training focuses on hands-on work, the demands of professional kitchens and what it takes to succeed during the busy winter season in Lapland.

Certificate of completion

Participants who successfully complete the Academy will receive an Aaltovoima Lapland Chef Academy Certificate.

A pathway to employment

Aaltovoima will connect participating chefs with suitable job opportunities in hotels and restaurants across Lapland during the upcoming winter season.

Practical information

• The Academy takes place on 17–18 October 2026

• Both days run from 10:00 to 17:00

• The training is free of charge

• The Academy will be held in the professional test kitchen located upstairs at Brasserie Lionne in Helsinki

• Hans Välimäki is providing the facilities for the Academy

• Participants are responsible for arranging and covering their own travel and accommodation costs in Helsinki

• Participants must bring their own chefs clothing and knives

• Participants selected for the Academy commit to seeking employment through Aaltovoima during the upcoming winter season

Selected applicants will be notified on 9 October 2026.

There is no need to attach a CV to your application. Applicants will enter their information directly into the application system and answer the following questions:

1. What is the best dish you have ever eaten, and why?

2. What is your favourite restaurant, and why?

3. Where do you see yourself in seven years?
